Two talented musicians will perform at Bury Parish Church on Friday.

The Roth Guitar Duo, made up of Emma Smith and Sam Rothwell, will play in a lunchtime concert at 12.30pm.

They formed formed through a shared love of chamber music in 2014 while studying at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.

And they have been described as “two of the UK’s brightest young stars of the guitar”. 

The duo have maintained a busy performing schedule at venues and festivals throughout the UK. 

They have also been invited on many occasions to perform at The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester for concert series.

Sam and Emma always strive to create varied programmes of interest to any music lover, ranging from Renaissance to newly commissioned and unpublished works.

The duo's first album “Canonica” is highly regarded and includes works from their extensive repertoire.

Their popularity has attracted new compositions from prominent composers including Yvonne Bloor and Mark Houghton.

The duo were recently awarded Second Prize in the ENKOR International Music Competition too.

Entry is £5, which can be paid on the door, and refreshments will be on sale from 11.15am.
