A fire broke out at a house in Bury yesterday afternoon, Tuesday.

Three fire engines from Bury, Ramsbottom and Broughton were called to a blaze at a home on Poplar Avenue at around 5.30pm.

They were in attendance for around six-and-a half-hours and were wearing breathing apparatus and used two hose reels and specialist equipment to extinguish the flames before making the area safe.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) has been approached for information about the cause of the blaze.

No injuries have been reported. 

A GMFRS spokesperson said: “At around 5.30pm on Tuesday, fire crews were called to reports of a fire at a home on Poplar Avenue, Bury.

“Three fire engines from Bury, Ramsbottom and Broughton quickly attended the incident.

“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels and other specialist equipment to extinguish the fire and make the area safe.

“GMFRS crews were in attendance for around six-and-a-half hours.”

Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service have been contacted for a comment.
