A car finance company in Bury is halfway through a year of fundraising and has raised 50 per cent of the target.

Last July, Car Benefit Solutions (CBS), based at The Barracks, celebrated 20 years in business and since then colleagues have embarked on a number of challenges aiming to raise £20,000 during "The Year of Giving Back" scheme.

The funds raised will be shared between six charity partners, Bury Cancer Support Centre, Bury Hospice, Bolton Lads and Girls Club, Fusilier Museum, Bury Christian Fellowship, and Manchester Dogs' Home.

In addition to the partners, the company is also supporting Macmillan Cancer Support and Sam's Gift - charities that resonate with the CBS team.

So far, CBS has raised more than £10,000 and colleagues have completed the Tough Mudder challenge at Heaton Park, 10K runs around Bury town centre and Tatton Park, as well as 160ft bungee jump at Salford Quays in sub-zero temperatures.

Still to come is the Dragon Boat Race at Trafford Water Park in May, as well as the three towers challenge involving a 16.3-mile walk, which takes in the landmarks of Peel Tower, Turton Tower and Rivington Pike, and the nine edges walk in the Peak District.

CBS gifts every employee one day per year to participate in volunteering opportunities for charity partners.

CBS’ My Make a Difference Day (MMADD) scheme is an important benefit that the business offers to its employees and significantly contributes to the wellbeing of the team.

The company is a long-standing advocate for charities and believes strongly in giving back to the local community.

Head of people and customers, Elise Broderick, said: “We’re thrilled to be in this position at six months point for our Year of Giving Back.

“It’s a great way to continue the celebrations throughout the anniversary year and to give something back to support the great work of the charity partners and nominated charities.

“The team spirit during the challenges has been truly amazing and has positively impacted the workplace and our people.

“I have no doubt it will continue for the upcoming events and look forward to hitting our target fundraising goal.”
