Travellers have been spotted on the overflow carpark at Burrs Country Park today, Friday.

Three caravans have been seen on the car park so far and Elton Cllr Jack Rydeheard said the Travellers moved to Burrs from Garside Hey Road in Brandlesholme.

He said: “Upon receiving contact from a number of residents I wrote to the police and to the council.

“The council took very prompt action and the travellers have now moved from the site.

“They have chosen to move to the overflow car park of Burrs Country Park.”

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said that this issue is something that the council will have to lead however GMP will support if needed.

A spokesperson for Bury Council said that they are aware of the Travellers and have started an eviction process.
