A man has been arrested after reports of someone carrying a gun in Prestwich.
Police were called to Bury New Road ar around 1pm on Saturday following the alarming incident.
A 43-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of carrying an imitation firearm.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At around 1pm on Saturday, Greater Manchester Police responded to reports of an incident on Bury New Road, Prestwich.
"A 43-year-old man was arrested a short time later on suspicion of carrying an imitation firearm in a public place and is currently in custody for questioning.
"There is no wider threat to the public and no injuries have been reported."
