Gales which battered the North West in October 1970 lifted sections of a wooden stand at Radcliffe Cricket Club over a wall, badly damaging two old people’s bungalows.
The 50-foot long stand at the club was blown down in the early hours of the morning with sections crashing down on the bungalows behind the ground.
Thankfully the occupants of the two houses were unhurt. This photo shows only the framework of the stand remaining and behind it the damaged houses.
