A badly eroded footpath has been repaired after safety fears were raised for Holcombe Moor walkers.
A dangerous path in Redisher Wood has been repaired to help ensure the safety of walkers.
The East Lancs Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA) worked with Bury Council, the local Rambler’s group and the national LDWA after partnering in 2019 for a similar project.
The groups teamed up helped to fund necessary repairs to a very worn footpath through the nature reserve, which is situated to the south of Peel Tower on Holcombe Moor.

A spokesperson from the East Lancashire LDWA said: “The footpath is used annually by entrants to the East Lancashire LDWA 'Two Crosses’ challenge event, held every March and is a popular route for local walkers.
“The staircase-style path that was created made the often muddy and slippery path much safer for walkers.”
Following the success of the 2019 project, the groups have again collaborated to fund further repairs and safety markers on the trail.
A spokesperson added: “Funding was successfully sought for further steps to be constructed on a badly eroded section of the footpath.
“A new metal kissing gate has also replaced an old rotten wooden gate and a new way-marker post, part way down the steps in the woods, to guide walkers towards the safe route on the reconstructed path.”
David Chadwick from Bury Council commissioned the work, which was carried out by Martins Countryside Contracting Limited.
