A Radcliffe special school has been recognised for its "family" approach.
Millwood Primary Special School has received a gold Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) development award after a glowing report.
The accreditation report recognised a strong relationship between all members of the community, the "family" approach and how the school goes ‘over and above’.

Headteacher at Millwood, Joanne Hurst, said the whole of the school community is delighted to receive this award.
She said: “SMSC development is the over-arching umbrella that encompasses personal development across the whole curriculum.
“At Millwood we are proud to offer this to our children through every aspect of school life, supported by our school vision, values and ethos.”

The assessor spoke to staff, children, governors and parents, noting how pupils "illustrated perfectly" what the school does.
Children talked about feeling happy at school and were excited to share the kinds of activities they enjoyed.
The report also recognises the very strong relationships between all members of the community and the impact the school has had on them.

Other key strengths were highlighted including the school's inclusivity, ethos and values and ways of enabling children to thrive and remain safe and valued.
