A Brandlesholme headteacher who is retiring after almost 40 years in the profession has hopes of writing her own book.
Deborah Ainscoe, from Old Hall Primary School, is stepping down after 36 years as a teacher at the school.
Having taught as an English leader and deputy head, Deborah has spent her whole career at the Brandlesholme school and her last 12 years in the top role.
Although she will continue on as a Local Authority moderator, trainer and leading tutor, Deborah is hoping to pursue her love of literacy by writing the book she's always promised herself, as well as enjoying her interest in the theatre.
She said: “Old Hall is a fabulous school and it has been a pleasure to teach so many wonderful children, some of whom are current parents.
“It has also been a pleasure to work with such a great team of staff, governors and parents."
On her retirement, she shared her excitement about spending more time with her family and pursuing her other interests.
The school held a special assembly to mark her retirement, which many of her former colleagues attended.
The children presented her with cards and gifts from staff, parents and the PTA and Mr Barrie Rostron, Chair of Governors, presented her with a long service certificate on behalf of the local authority.
Mrs Nicola Carlile will take over the role of headteacher from January.
