A frozen yoghurt (fro-yo) parlour in Prestwich has unveiled a new look for its store as the business continues to grow in the region.
Frurt opened its Bury New Road branch in 2014 following the popularity of its Manchester city centre store, marking the start of its self-serve concept.
The unique family run business, the first of its kind for any dessert business in the UK, has since cemented their home within Prestwich.
The store has now been given a facelift and offers customers plush green booths that seats up to eight people.
LED signage adorns the wooden walls and there is plenty of greenery and a deluxe counter with more flavours and toppings for visitors to enjoy.
The menu at the Prestwich parlour offers six frozen yogurt flavours which change every few months, and a variety of toppings, smoothies and hot and cold drinks, all sourced from local suppliers.
The business, which was launched by husband-and-wife team, Syed and Shaza Hassan in 2010, now boasts two Manchester city centre stores, alongside its three self-serve stores in Prestwich, Blackburn and Bolton.
Its recent expansion also included the purchase of its own warehouse, which it uses to supply its store and provide branded products to other businesses.
Syed said: “The Prestwich community accepted our business with open arms years ago.
“They helped us to get to where we are, and now that we have established ourselves, it’s only right to give back.
“We will always support the local and independent businesses that surround our stores, and Prestwich is no different.
“When we first founded the business in 2010 as part of our mission to create the perfect frozen yoghurt, we couldn’t imagine how we have grown over the years.
“Frurt is built to franchise, and we also have plans to grow the business internationally, but we will never lose sight of the local communities where our stores call home.”
Frurt currently employs more than 35 members of staff across five of its Greater Manchester stores and the husband and wife team, Shaza and Syed Hassan were named in the North West Business Insider’s 42 under 42 for 2022.
Each member of the Frurt Prestwich team is employed from the area, and collectively they take part in schemes aimed at giving back to the community.
These initiatives include regular litter picking to keep the community clean, a previous sponsorship of Prestwich Marauders FC, and supporting local and national charities.
Over the years, Frurt has raised more than £10,000 for charities like Inspiration Ovarian Cancer Northwest, Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Spot Project, SKT Welfare and has donated raffle prizes to the likes of Liv’s Trust.
