Hundreds of Christmas shoppers headed to Ramsbottom Civic Hall on Saturday to make the most of the town's Christmas Festival.

With around 30 stalls situated in the Civic Hall, St Paul’s Gardens, and the area next to the Ramsbottom Urn, traders sold crafts, art, treats, cheese and hot food to shoppers.

Children were also encouraged to head over and join in the Christmas activities and meet Santa, who said: “I'm here at the Civic Hall in Ramsbottom promoting all the arts and crafts.

“We would love you to come down, bring your children and have a great time. It has been really lovely to meet you all.”

Hot food and coffee were provided outside and The Civic Hall hosted a DJ and crafting table for the younger ones.

A saxophonist merrily played festive tunes down the High Street from midday on Saturday, happily celebrating the going ahead of the festival after a long hiatus following the pandemic and the cancellation of the last Christmas Market in 2019.

Cllr Clare Cummins, who has been involved with organising this year’s festival, said she hoped it would give the town’s residents a chance to come together for some festive fun.

She said: “It’s great to have this Christmassy event back in our town.
