We've rounded up a number of Bury cases heard by magistrates recently - read on to find out who's been in the dock.
Speeding
A man was ordered to pay more than £235 after breaching speed limits in Bury.
Lee Bragg, 47, of Beech Drive, Preston, admitted to Bolton Magistrates Court that he had driven on Bury New Road at the junction with Hilton Lane in Prestwich on September 8 last year at 38mph.
This was in breach of the 30mph speed limit.
Bragg was ordered to pay a total of £235.
Criminal damage
A man was given a suspended sentence after committing assault and criminal damage.
Ryan Uddin Davies, 29, of Kilburn Road, Radcliffe, admitted to Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court that he caused around £150 worth of damage to a Volkswagen on High Street, Little Lever, on November 23 this year.
That same day he assaulted a woman by beating her and used threatening language.
Davies was given a sentence of eight weeks, suspended for 12 months and ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work with 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days.
He was also given a restraining order forbidding him from contacting his victim until November 27 next year.
Driving
A man was jailed after driving while disqualified and without insurance.
Ibrahim Wajahat, 50, of Padiham Close, Bury, admitted to Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court that he had driven on Blackburn Street, Radcliffe, on November 27 this year despite having been banned and having no insurance.
He was given a sentence of 16 weeks due to his previous ‘disregard’ for court orders.
Wajahat was also ordered to pay £154.
Restrictions
A man was ordered to pay more than £300 after breaching speeding restrictions in Bury.
Andrew Millward, 34, of Fairfax Court, Middlesborough, was proven at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court to have driven on Bury New Road at the junction with Hilton Lane, Prestwich, at speeds of 37mph.
This was above the 30mph speed limit.
Millward was ordered to pay a total of £344.
Drink driving
A man was fined and ordered to carry out unpaid work for drink driving in Bury.
Saqab Raza, 43, of East Street, Bury, admitted to Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court that he had driven while over the legal limit for alcohol on August 11 this year in Stockport.
He was also uninsured at the time.
Raza was ordered to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work along with 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days.
He was also banned from driving for 20 months.
