The Chinese Buffet has re-opened in Bury with robots as their new waiters.
Redesigned with singing robots, the popular eatery, which closed after a fire in 2019, has re-opened to the public with a completely new look and a new name.
Now dubbed ‘TCB: Unlimited Dining Experience’, customers at the Rock venue order via an app and tapas-style dishes are delivered directly to their table by robots.
This new method addresses food wastage concerns but still allows customers to order as much as they would like.
Gaynor Ramsden, a spokesperson from TCB said: “We believe we have become the first restaurant in the UK to have such a reliance on robotics.
“Customers love them and that's not just the children! People tell us they travelled further than they would normally to eat out, especially to see the robots.”
Having closed after a fire in 2019, the eatery faced a number of complications, including Covid, which delayed the re-opening.
Gaynor added: “We always intended to reopen and have been frustrated so often by the operational and building setbacks but we're now delighted and hugely excited that the day has arrived and we can welcome people back to dine with us.”
The birthday-singing Bellabot has already become an Instagram sensation and is one of the many changes at TCB.
Having aimed to re-opened quietly on Monday, November 28, staff say the restaurant was much busier than expected as the news was shared on Facebook.
Gaynor added: “As with any new restaurant opening, it's an anxious time because everything's new and people and equipment need to settle in but everything has gone to plan and we're really excited for the future.”
Customers can remain steaded and can download the TBC app or use an ‘in -house’ tablet.
Meals cost between £13.80 and £24.99 for adults depending on the day and time.
