A shopper had £100 worth of presents stolen while out in Bury town centre.
Nicolle Loughlin, who had come from Cheetham Hill, says she was left gutted after a Pandora bag containing Christmas presents was stolen.
She believes the bag was pinched while in the food hall at Marks & Spencers, while she was distracted by her baby in the pram.
And she has criticises the store's response after Nicolle said they refused to check the CCTV.
Marks & Spencers has responded with saying they cannot be sure the bag was stolen on their premises - but have offered a gesture of goodwill.
The incident happened around 5.05pm on Saturday, 26 November.
Nicolle said: “I was out shopping with my son, who is nine months old.
“I went into M&S and I browsed the women’s clothes and then I went into the food hall and I know I had that Pandora bag when I went there.
“I picked up a few things and went to the till and I felt my Primark bag move, I looked down and noticed the Pandora bag was gone.
“I had both of them on my left arm and was pushing my pram with my right, my son was quite upset as he was tired so I was trying to get out of there quickly.”
She said as soon as she noticed the bag was missing, she went straight to the security guard who had a look around the Food Hall before getting the store manager.
Nicolle said: “I was really upset and, in a panic, and I didn’t know what to do.
“The store manager and they went to all the tills and asked if anyone had handed it in which obviously, they hadn’t.
“I said please can you check the CCTV to check it’s not been dropped somewhere or see if someone has taken it and he said 'we’ve just got too many cameras in the store so we can’t check’.”
Nicolle who is on maternity leave said she was just upset that they refused to check their CCTV footage, so the next morning she phoned The Rock who confirmed they have CCTV facing M&S but it’s only activated if M&S alert them to an incident, which they didn’t.
Nicolle added: “M&S didn’t even bother to alert the complex to get them to point the CCTV which could have caught someone exiting the store, so that was another failure.
“Head office phoned me up on Sunday and said they’ll investigate this.
“She said they need time to review the footage. She called me back this morning and said, ‘we checked the footage, but we only have one image of you coming into the Food Hall and your bag is blocked by your other bag and another image of you looking at the cheesecakes’.
“That’s completely contradictory to what the store was telling me that they have too many cameras they can’t check, now head office is telling me they only have two cameras that’s caught me, and they’ve not caught the incident on camera.”
Nicolle reported the incident to 101 who said they couldn’t make the report live until M&S agree to hand over the CCTV.
An M&S spokesperson said: “We hold ourselves to the very highest standards of customer service, so we were sorry to hear that this customer was unhappy with her experience in store.
"Our customer service team have since spoken to the customer directly and whilst it was not possible to determine that the bag was lost in our store, we have offered a gesture of goodwill which the customer has accepted.”
