Tottington residents gathered yesterday, Remembrance Sunday, to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
The area was closed off to cars and vehicles as the parade began from Harwood Road and continued to the memorial on Market Street.
At the memorial, wreaths were laid and a service of remembrance took place as crowds fell silent for two minutes.
Councillors, including mayor, Shaheena Haroon, also attended the civic service.
Performing throughout the parade and service were Tottington Public Band, who also lead the way back up Market Street once the service had ended.
Members of the public also joined in the singing of hymns to show their respects as crowds gathered in mass, spilling onto road.
Cllr Haroon said: “Every year we wear our poppies with pride in support of the men and women who fought for our freedom and for those who are continuing to serve and protect our nation.
“This solemn and moving occasion always brings our communities together to remember their sacrifice in ensuring we enjoy the freedoms we do today.”
Cllr Richard Gold, the council’s armed forces lead and cabinet member for finance and communities at the council, said: “We are proud of our armed forces and the immense contribution they have made, and continue to make, to our country, some sadly giving their lives for us.
