Bury College students are leading the way in fundraising activities for the 2022 Poppy Appeal.
The Public Services students have been busy selling poppies in the foyer of Marks and Spencer in The Rock and the Millennium Centre at the college, on behalf of the annual appeal by the Royal British Legion.
Will Calcutt, Sinead Nugent and Lauren Lynchey were just three of many students helping out alongside tutor Humer Sultan.
Lauren Lynchey, a former Woodhey High School pupil, said: “It was great fun, and I also met some interesting people.
“I was surprised how many of those have connections to the Armed Forces through friends and family, so it is great to raise as much as possible for a great cause.”
Simon Taylor, Bury College Level 3 team leader for public services, is hoping to raise a lot of money for a worthwhile cause.
He said: “We raised over £4,000 last year, and we are hoping to beat that this year.
“In addition, the students will also be participating in the Remembrance Parade on Sunday, November 13 from Bury Town Hall to the memorial outside Bury Parish Church.”
All the money raised by students will help the Royal British Legion continue its vital work in supporting the armed forces community.
