Anyone who nipped into Tesco's Bury supermarket recently may have noticed a lot going on inside the store.
Teams of dancers, customers and excited faces arrived at the Woodfields Retail Park store on Wednesday, October 26, to celebrate it being open for 25 years.
Wendy Howarth, community champion at the store, said: “We arranged for balloons from Nissa’s events & occasions to do an amazing display at the front of the store and inside the store , it looked amazing!
“We had JULIESFACE in the store who did some amazing face painting, the kids absolutely loved it and even some adults came in to have their faces painted for Halloween parties.”
Julie, who asked only for a donation, was able to raise £101.92 for a food bank, which Tesco Bury has made into three Christmas hampers which will go to The Attic Project.
The store also saw dance group Lark Dance School come in and help celebrate.
After 25 years and more than 40m transactions, the shop commemorated its opening in October 20, 1997.
At that time it was opened by Bury-born Manchester United footballing brothers Gary and Phill Neville.
Gary, who was aged 22 at the time and playing with Manchester United, did the honours of cutting the ribbon and can be seen performing the duty in a picture published in the Bury Times.
Unfortunately, Gary was unable to make the 25th anniversary but the store was still full of life as customers joined in the celebrations.
Wendy added: “The dancers were absolutely amazing, and the customer loved them.
“Also helping Tesco Bury celebrate were The Sea Cadets and their poppy collectors who are in-store selling poppies until Saturday, November 12.
“I would like to thank everyone who came into help the store celebrate, you helped Tesco Bury have an amazing birthday as well as helping out our local community food bank, The Attic Project.”
