A list of roads which will be closed for a popular running event later this month has been released.

Bury Running Festival will be back in town on Sunday, November 20.

It was due to take place in September but was postponed following the death of the Queen.

The festival will kick off with the Bury 10 Mile at 9am, followed by the Bury 10K at 9.30am and the Arena Group Bury Fun Run at 11.45am.

This year’s festival is expected to attract runners of all abilities and ages while generating a huge cash boost for a host of good causes.

In partnership with the council, the race is being organized by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, who are now advising runners, spectators, residents and visitors that a number of the borough's roads will be closed or have access restricted to ensure the safety of all those taking part.

The event will require the closure of roads and road junctions as well as the suspension of a number of traffic regulation orders between 8am and 12.30pm on the day.

Theses closures include Bolton Street, Crostons Road, Tottington Road, Scobell Street, Church Street, Bank Street, Hall Street, Bradshaw Road, Harwood Road, Bury Road, Laurel Street, Market Street, Chapel Street, Holcombe Road, Brandlesholme Road, Woodhill Road, Castlecroft Road, Harvard Road, Dunster Road and The Rock.

The event will also require a number of parking suspensions from 7am on Saturday, November 19 to 3pm on the day of the event, which includes Parsons Lane Car Park.

Operations director at Run For All, Tristan Batley-Kyle, said: “We are delighted to be able to bring a festival of running to the town of Bury.

"Unfortunately, an event of this scale does mean some road closures are necessary to ensure the safety of all involved.

"We apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused and will lift the closures as soon as possible.”

Runners can choose to run for a charity close to their heart or get involved with one of the event’s official partner charities – Bury Hospice, Womens Housing Action Group (WHAG) and the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.

This year’s Bury Running Festival is supported by The Rock Bury, High 5, Coopah, BBC Radio Manchester, Water In A Box, Shokz, Up and Running, Go Puff, Arla Protein and Marathon Photos.
