Bury's motorists will have seven road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network in the next couple of weeks.

And six of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that three closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A56, from 9pm on October 17 to 6am on December 23, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A56 northbound and southbound, M66  junction 1 to Bent Gate - carriageway closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

• M60, from 9pm on October 24 to 6am on February 11, 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise, junction 17 to junction 18 - lane closure for inspection/survey.

• M60, from 9pm on Monday, October 31 to 6am on November 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise junction 16 - M62 eastbound, junction 19 - M62 westbound, junction 19 - M60 anti-clockwise junction 17 - M60 anti-clockwise - M66 northbound, junction 3 - M66 southbound, junction 3 - M60 anti-clockwise junction 19 lane closures and slip road closures and carriageway closures due to survey works.

And a further four closures will begin over the next couple of weeks:

• M60, from tonight, Tuesday, at 9pm to 6am tomorrow, Wednesday, November 2, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise junction 18 to junction 17 - Lane closure for White Lining/Road Markings.

• M60, from 8.30pm on Saturday, November 5 to 6am on Monday, November 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anticlockwise junction 19 - 18 lane closures and slip road closures due to maintenance works.

• M60, from 9pm on Monday, November 14 to 6am on Wednesday, November 16, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise  junction 19 to entry slip - carriageway closure for construction improvement/upgrade.

• M60, from 11pm on Monday, November 14 to 5am on Tuesday, November 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 16 to junction 18 - carriageway closure for horticulture (cutting and planting).

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
