A Whitefield family have been left heartbroken after a firework scare caused their puppy to run away.

A Facebook post to find Frankie, who has been missing since Sunday evening, has amassed over 50,000 shares as locals in and around Greater Manchester help to find her.

At almost two years old, the Cavapoo was on a walk in Hyde, an area she was unfamiliar with, when a nearby firework spooked her, causing her to slip her collar and run.

Chelsea Degisi, 30, part owns Frankie with her mum, who was on holiday in Tenerife at the time.

She said: “I’m so tired, I feel like I’m hitting a brick wall, my mind is going absolutely insane.

“My mum was in Tenerife at the time and she’s come back now.

“Today (Wednesday), she’s walking from Hyde to Wardel, 14 miles or so across the fields, dragging the dogs dressing gown along the grass hoping she can lay the scent for her to track back to us.”

Although Chelsea says her phone won’t stop ringing with potential sightings, Frankie still hasn’t been found and is likely to be in survival mode, according to people who have given her advice.

She said: “They said she’s in survival mode now, so even if my mum, who she absolutely worships, calls her name she wouldn’t go to her.

“She went missing at 6.30pm on Sunday night but I’m not losing hope, people have said some dogs go missing for a few days before they are found

“She is so fast and she’s only one so she’s full of energy. One potential sighting we do think was her, she was seen on a housing estate in Wardle where it is just field after field after field, so we’re hoping she stayed to the fields and hasn’t tried to go across the motorways.”

Chelsea said advisors have said the best thing to do is to film, photo or follow at a distance and document where she was sighted, when and in what direction she was headed.

From there, a trap can be set to catch Frankie and bring her back home.

Chelsea added: “With the amount of shares and phone calls I’m having, everybody knows her name so im worried people will call it and she will bolt.

“We have seen one video we think is her but as soon as she was called over, she ran straight away.”
