A man has been charged after a hand grenade was put outside a home in Unsworth.
On Thurday, September 29, the explosive was found in front of a property on Randale Drive at around 9.30pm.
Following the incident, police said that they were looking into a report that two men were spotted on Randale Drive on a motorbike.
Police said they pulled up outside a house before placing a device in front of a property and then left.
Residents were evacuated and a cordon was set up as officers worked at the scene.
No-one was hurt following the incident.
Today, police said Shaun Anthony Offlands, 28, of Esmond Street in Liverpool, has now been charged with possessing an explosive.
On social media, a police spokesman said: “Shaun Anthony Offlands, (28), of Esmond Street, Liverpool, has been charged with one count of possessing an explosive, under Section 4 of the Explosive Substances Act 1883.
“The charge relates to an incident on September 29, when a hand grenade was found on Randale Drive, Bury.
"No-one was injured in the incident."
The force added Offlands was remanded in custody ahead of appearing at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court.
