A man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a crash on Bury which followed a police chase.
Eyewitnesses spotted police and paramedics at the junction of Bolton Road and Ainsworth Road, near Lidl, at around 2.40pm this afternoon, Sunday.
It appeared that three cars were involved in the crash, although Greater Manchester Police have been unable to confirm how many vehicles were affected.
The force said that the incident happened following the pursuit of a "suspicious car".
Following the crash, a man was checked by medical staff before being arrested, police said.
No other injuries have been reported.
A GMP spokesperson said: "Shortly before 2.10pm today (25 September) we became aware of a suspicious car near Fletcher Street, Bolton.
"The car failed to stop when requested by officers and a pursuit ensued before the car was involved in a collision on Bolton Road.
"A 29-year-old man was assessed by colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service before being taken to custody where he will be questioned on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop for police."
Traffic has been moving down Bolton Road towards Bury with queues trailing back to Bury Bridge.
One witness said: “There looks to have been an accident at the junction turn on the bottom of Ainsworth Road affecting traffic in the right lane.
“The traffic is travelling down Bolton Road to Bury and tail backs across Bury Bridge.
"There was a black car with its bumper in the middle of the road a motorcyclist and a white BMW at the scene.
“There was numerous police officers and all the surrounding business had stepped out to see the commotion.”
