A man has been arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence and assaulting a police officer.
The Bury Metrolink Tram stop was closed for several hours on Wednesday, September 14, after Transport for Greater Manchester reported a police incident.
The tram from Bury to Radcliffe was temporally suspended whilst a Greater Manchester Police Transport Unit attended the scene, where they observed public order offences.
A man was then detained and sustained a minor injury after a struggle with officers.
He was taken to hospital for treatment but discharged a short time after.
The man was then arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence and for assaulting a police constable.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At around 2.10pm, Wednesday 14 September, officers from GMP’s Transport Unit were deployed at Bury Interchange when they observed public order offences.
“A male was detained and, during a struggle with officers, sustained a minor injury.
“He was taken to hospital for treatment but discharged a short time later and arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order and assaulting a police constable.”
