King Charles went to Bury more than 40 years ago in December 1977 as part of the Queen's Silver Jubilee celebrations in his previous Royal position as Prince of Wales.
He met crowds of residents, shaking hands, talking to locals and in one case, even received a kiss.
Susan Farrell was able to get a "Merry Christmas kiss" from the King on his visit to the town.
He laughed and joked for two-and-a-half hours, stepping away from his security to meet the 3,000 locals who packed the streets around the town hall to see him.
Prince Charles met pupils from Bury Church School and told them: "I hope you're not playing truant."
One Bury resident, Naushad Majothi, who moved to the borough from Uganda, remembers meeting the now King of England.

He said: “I remember meeting Prince Charles when he visited Bury in 1977.
“We were in the crowd and he came and spoke to us, asking where we were from and whether we were happy.”
