Bury Community Fire Station is holding an open day on Sunday, September 25 with an array of eye-catching equipment on display for visitors.

Entry is free and the event at the Magdalene Road will start at 10am and run until 4pm.

An series of demonstrations will take place on the day including fire appliances,  a Formula One driving simulator and CPR workshops hosted by the ambulance service.

The simulator will be calibrated so the user can see what it would be like to drive under the influence of different drugs and alcohol.

Another driving simulator will be there to teach people about reaction times too and also a road traffic collision demonstration.

An important workshop on chip pans will be demonstrated and the fire crew will show a live burn and will show how dramatic chip pans are and why people shouldn’t own them.

As well as important safety information being on offer, food and drinks, fairground rides and bouncy castles will also be available and Bury Fire Choir will be performing at 12pm.

The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Band will then play a set at 2pm.

Crew manager Rostamian said: “All our modern appliances are going to turn up like our water capability, our aerial appliance capability and other ladders and water units.

“But also, our historical things from our museums are going to make an appearance.

“It’s going to be a jam-packed day full of content and hopefully we can get our message across on how people can keep themselves a bit safer in relation to lots of different things.”
