A member of legendary rock band the Happy Mondays will make a special appearance at a popular Bury record shop later this year.

Gary Whelan, who plays the drums in the iconic Manchester band, will perform an acoustic set at Wax and Beans on Market Street in November.

Gary will perform a stripped down versions of Happy Mondays hits such as Kinky Afro as well as play some of his solo material.

The drummer will also share stories about his time in the Salford six-piece and answer questions from fans.

Wax and Beans co-owner, Ben Soothill said: "We're really excited about [it]

"From our point of view, we're just a little indie record shop and coffee shop and these artists approaching us and wanting to play in our space in Bury is really cool.

"It's going to be a night of him playing his solo stuff, a couple of Happy Mondays songs in there as well and general on-stage antics and anecdotes about his time in the band and what he does touring.

"We expect a capacity crowd for us, somewhere between 60 and 70 people in the shop."
