A man was reportedly stabbed in the leg in Bury town centre in the early hours of Saturday.
Police were called to Silver Street at 3.54am, after reports of an incident near a club and the old Barclays Bank.
A man in his 40s was found with a puncture wound to his thigh.
The man was taken to hospital and remains in stable condition.
No arrests have been made and police are now appealing for witnesses, dashcam or CCTV footage.
A resident said she saw tactical aid police on Silver Street at around noon on Saturday with a side road and back street taped off.
Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to contact them.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At 3.54am on September 10, police were called to a report of an incident on Silver Street, Bury.
“Officers attended and a man in his 40s was located nearby with a puncture wound to his thigh. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances and to identify the offender.
“Anyone with information, or anyone who witnessed this incident, or may have dashcam/CCTV footage, is asked to contact Bury CID on 0161 856 8562 / 0161 856 8213 quoting log number 567 of the 10th September 2022.”
