A Bury Market stall is helping the community make healthy and affordable meals amid the cost-of-living crisis.
Shoppers were given a taste of healthy and affordable food at the Cook Well for Less stall.
Council teams gave cookery demonstrations using fresh and low cost ingredients available on the market.
They also gave out advice on how to reduce food waste and save money, and recipe cards for people to try out at home.
The chefs there made a variety of dishes, from chilli to chickpea curry, from burritos to broccoli and pea soup.
They also demonstrated how basic ingredients such as tomatoes could be spiced up and used as a base for a number of meals, such as soup and pasta sauce, and kept for days.
Cllr Charlotte Morris, cabinet member for culture and the economy at the council, said: “We all know how much the price of food has been rising, so what better place to demonstrate how to cook well and save money than Bury Market?
“The day was great fun, and we hope many shoppers have gone away with handy tips which are nutritious, tasty and good value.”
Bury Adult Learning Centre is running a free course to help people cook healthy food on a budget.
