A family-run Bury business has bagged another award for their innovative ideas and for helping devastated families during the pandemic.
Legacy Pets, based on Riders Gate, picked up the Innovative During Covid-19 business award at the Greater Manchester Business Awards 2022.
The ceremony, which took place on Friday, September, 2, saw the team awarded for the second time this year.
Marketing manager Jodie Reeve said: “Our team worked so immensely hard during Covid to make sure that families still got the best care available for their pets.
“When families were calling us, devastated that they had to hand their pets over in Vet car parks, it broke our hearts. So, we made a change.
“We introduced our home euthanasia service, meaning that families could say goodbye to their beloved pets in the comfort of their own homes."
The family began the business after the death of their family pet, Barney, in 2011.
It took more than two weeks before his remains were brought back to them when he was put down by a vet, and the family was left wondering where Barney had been all that time.
Their experiences motivated them to begin the award-winning business.
Jodie said: “We’re the innovators in this industry, constantly making waves and being heard.
“We’re changing the age-old negative perceptions surrounding the pet cremation industry and showing families truly how their pets should be cared for after their life.
“To be recognised for this and the changes we’re making to the pet cremation industry makes us feel so proud, but this is just the beginning.
“It was an incredible award to win and meant too much to us and is an incredible achievement to be at the ceremony, surrounded by such successful local businesses.”
The received a nomination for the Manchester Business Award, and have also been nominated for the Northwest Business Masters Awards on November 10, where they have been shortlisted for the Fast Growth Business award.
Alongside the awards, Legacy Pets has just opened up their new Bury showroom on The Rock, offering personalised jewellery and keepsakes as well as free pet plans and consultations.
