An award-winning family business has opened a new Bury showroom to give comfort to grieving pet owners with the help of a special guest, Frank the iguana.
Legacy Pets on The Rock has set up a keepsakes premises and planning suite so that pet lovers can remember and plan for the end of their pet’s life.
Jodie Reeve, 29, marketing manager at Legacy Pets, said: “We believe there is more you can do for your pets, they are family and we want people to think about them.
“It is heartbreaking to think about not having them with you but even more heartbreaking to look back and wish you had done things differently.”
The new showroom is situated near Wilkinsons and boasted a good turnout as passers-by stopped in to say hello to Anya, Jodie's dog, and iguana Frank.
Jodie said: “Frank the iguana is our guest of honour. He came in last February as his owner thought he had passed away.
“But, during our safety and routine checks, we found he was still alive and in a cold state of shock.
"We heated him back up called the owner and we saved him from being cremated, now we have him back as our celebrity guest.”
Legacy Pets has opened the jewellery and keepsakes showroom, offering castings of paws, portraits, and jewellery but these are not limited to pets.
The shop can also put ashes, hair or anything of emotional value into a memorial piece.
Priding themselves on offering a unique service of emotional comfort, Jodie said: We know that it's not what you want to be speaking about, but there's more that you can do for your pets and we want you to know that and see what the options are and have the very best care for them.
“We are a private individual pet crematorium and so we don't believe in anything such as cold storage and we reunite you within 24 to 48 hours whereas many other vet practitioners take up to two weeks.
“Our team can discuss options and payment plans with you and take that extra time to put a plan in place.”
The Legacy Pets team recently won the Made in Manchester Team of the Year award and has just been nominated for three more awards at two North West ceremonies.
