The Bury Metrolink line has been suspended after another overhead line fault.

Trams will only be running from Bury to Whitefield after an overhead line failure, just a week after 'improvement works' were carried out.

A tram user expressed her anger after having to buy a bus ticket because drivers hadn't been told tram tickets were being accepted.

She said: "While I understand the disruption, it is frustrating that I, once again, can't use the tram after a week of repairs kept the line closed last week.

"I've now decided to buy an additional bus ticket as drivers haven't yet been told tram tickets are being accepted.

"I'll be able to make it to work but my journey is going to be significantly delayed."

Tram users have taken to Twitter to express their anger.

One commenter has said:

"When will we finally hear from you (Andy Burnham) about this shambles?

"Every week the tram is down at the minute. It's either too hot or there is a light breeze.

"Official TFGM hasn't done enough to modernise it and make it fit for purpose. How much do execs get paid for this?"

A spokesperson from Manchester Metrolink has said: "Due to damage to the overhead line, the Bury line is part suspended.

"Services will run between Bury & Whitefield. Tickets are being accepted on the 17, 18, 41, 52, 53, 56, 59, 66, 90, 95, 97, 98, 112, 117, 118, 119, 135, 156, 163 & 524 buses."

This comes after long running concerns about the state of tram services in Biury, with the metrolink having broken down only a week ago.

Passengers were told at the time to use replacement bus services, with delays caused for commuters.
