A singer from Whitefield will be performing for 10 hours at a Radcliffe pub to raise money in memory of his mum.
Jay Dunn, Whitefield, is braving a 10-hour singing challenge to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Jay said: “My mum passed away from cancer four years ago, and I wanted to find a way of raising money.
“Because I sing, I decided to raise money by doing a 10-hour endurance singing challenge.”
Jay has completed two half marathons and a Manchester to Blackpool cycle ride but had to stop his fundraising the past two years due to covid.
He will be performing at the New Inn, Radcliffe on Sunday, August 28 from 1.00 pm until 11.00 pm.
By splitting the time into ‘sets’ Jay believes he can take on the challenge, and joked that band members are worried as he is playing Glaston-Bury the following day.
He said: “I will split the time into sets, so I will be performing some of The Killers, Billy Joel and REM instead of just pressing play and then singing any random song for 10 hours.”
Singing songs from iconic artists, Jay is aiming to raise £2,000 for the Cancer Research charity.
He said:” Times are increasingly difficult financially for the majority of people in this current climate and any donations or support would be massively appreciated.”
Donations can be given via a Go Fund Me page, his social media, or QR codes which will be dotted around the venue.
Those wanting to request a song can do so by contributing to the cause.
He began his musical career in the early 90s performing in and around Manchester. Influenced by what he describes as the ‘American Jangle pop genre’ he is inspired by artists such as The Byrds, Big Star and The Jayhawks.
