A new Bury Market stall selling products from Hong Kong and beyond is already a hit according to its owner.
Monliuliu’s Store, which opened at the market last week, sells products from Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea.
It’s owner, Cammie Liu, moved to the UK from Hong Kong in June last and decided to open the stall after falling in love with Bury Market.
She says she hopes the shop will not only be a place to buy produce, but for new residents from Hong Kong to meet each other.
She said: “We sell Asian grocery stuff in my store and I see there is a quite a demand.
“I already know around 20 families that have just moved to Bury, and because Bury Market is a famous market, I’ve met a lot of Hong Kong people from all around Manchester.
“I think this is a good place to start my business.”
After Monliuliu’s Store's owner moved to the UK with her husband and two children, she decided to open a stall at Bury Market to supply Asian groceries to other new-comers from Hong Kong.
“It’s a market that I love so much and that’s why I choose to stay in Bury.
“So I thought, ‘why don’t we try to open a store to supply Asian food and Hong Kong food to new-comers from Hong Kong?’”
“I think my shop can be place for them to just say ‘hi’ and see if they need any information.”
Cammie says she will put up a noticeboard in the shop for anyone wishing to share information for new residents.
Although the stall has been open just a few days, Cammie says she saw more than 200 people visited her stall on its opening weekend and was pleased to see British people buying her products too.
You can find Monliuliu’s Store at Princess Block Stall 9.
