Machete at Metrolink
A TEENAGER caught carrying a small machete at the Radcliffe Metrolink stop has been spared jail.
Manchester magistrates heard how Riley Outram, aged 19, of no fixed address, was found with the weapon, which was seen by members of the public, on December 4 last year.
He pleaded guilty to possessing it in public as well as using threatening behaviour towards a police officer and was sentenced to four months in prison suspended for 12 months.
Outram was drunk and uncooperative at the time but has no previous convictions and magistrates decided he was capable of rehabilitation.
As part of his sentence he must carry out 120 hours of unpaid work, participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities. He must pay £100 in compensation as well as £85 towards the costs of funding victim services.
No insurance
A VAN driver who had no insurance has been banned from holding a licence for six months.
Manchester magistrates heard how Shaun Sumner, aged 53, of Herbert Street, Radcliffe, was caught using a Ford Transit van on Plantation Road, Hale, on November 27 last year.
The case against him was proved and he was also ordered to pay £156 in costs and charges.
Drunk and disorderly
A WOMAN who admitted being drunk and disorderly at the Skybar in Kay Gardens, Bury, has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months.
Manchester magistrates heard how Heather Russell, aged 43, of Woodward Road, Prestwich, committed the offence on June 20.
She was ordered to pay £26 towards the costs of funding victim services.
Drink driver
MAGISTRATES have banned a man from holding a licence for 17 months after he pleaded guilty to drink driving in a Vauxhall Corsa on Cockymoor Road, Bury, on June 21.
Michael Cass, aged 35, of Cedar Fold, Tottington, was fined £120 and ordered to pay £48 towards the costs of funding victim services.
Drug driver
A DRIVER has been banned from the roads for three years after he was caught drug driving in Blackpool.
Manchester magistrates heard how Wajahat Ibrahim, aged 50, of Walmersley Road, Bury, had used cocaine before driving a Vauxhall Corsa on Mythrop Road, Blackpool.
Ibrahim pleaded guilty to drug driving and was fined £120.
