The East Lancashire Railway (ELR) has welcomed everyone’s favourite blue engine, bringing joy to families all over the North West.

The Day out with Thomas event was held on August 6 and 7 and was a great success.

Following the weekend’s activities, iconic characters from Thomas the Tank Engine like Sir Topham Hatt, Rusty and Dusty helped out the busy team at the Bury Transport Museum.

The Bury Transport Museum, one of ELR’s star attractions, has recently become host of the iconic steam locamotive Union of South Africa, on static display there for the very first time.

The museum has also recently announced a series of fundraising evenings including a three-course meal complemented by fizz in the presence of The Union of South Africa and its owner John Cameron.

The next special evening will take place on Friday, October 14, for tickets please visit www.eastlancsrailway.org.uk.
