Thieves broke into a community farm which brings joy to children and adults alike.
Pimhole Community Farm was targeted just after 10pm on Sunday with CCTV footage showing two men taking a panel off the hen pen, chasing the turkey out and then grabbing it before making off.
The pen was left open, and it’s thought that the 10 hens were killed by a fox overnight.
The farm in School Street is widely known for its community projects, which involves giving young people across Bury the chance to meet the animals and learn about agricultural life.
Stuart Andrews, who runs the farm said: “I’m just absolutely gutted. For me this is just a hobby.
“I just don’t understand people who steal, especially animals, what they’ve both done is so cruel.
“It’s just a regular occurrence.
“It’s happened a number of times. This is what we’re up against we’re banging our heads against the wall.
“We’re not here to make money we’re just here for the community.”
Mr Andrews said that the police were supposed to have come down to the farm on Tuesday morning, but they never showed up.
The camera footage shows thieves running off with the turkey at 10:07pm and the farm was only notified of the break-in at 10:17pm.
He added: “I’m sick of it, the kids used to love to come and see and feed the turkey.”
The police have been contacted about the incident.
