The villagers of Affetside came together last Friday to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee.
A special jubilee picnic was held on the village green, and a marquee was set up and decked out with flags, bunting and balloons.
Around 80 villagers arrived at the party bringing food and refreshments ready for the village BBQ and a local singer led everyone into singing the National Anthem.
The village also held a competition to crown one local the Queen of Affetside as well as competitions for the best dressed Queen, best dressed Junior Queen and best dressed House.
A ballot was held on the day and the winners for Best Dressed Queen were Roseanne and Tony Davies, the best dressed house went to Carol Yates and the best dressed junior Queen went to baby Aubrey.
A week earlier, a new-born rare breed Shire horse foal had been born and the villagers were privileged to be asked to name it.
The owner ran a competition and announced the winner at the Jubilee picnic, offering the winners a family ticket to the Bury Agricultural Show. The new-born colt was named "Lancelot".
The next Affetside event is a French boules and bake-off event happening on Sunday, June 12 at 1:30pm.
