Bury Catholic Prep School have been celebrating the upcoming weekend with lots of exciting events over the past week.
All the children in school have been studying the topic "Our Great Britain" over the last six weeks and during the final week before the half term break took part in a weeklong celebration for the Queen.
The week of celebrations started with the launch of the Queen Elizabeth Community Award, is an annual award given for service, duty, respect and honour and a special assembly was held on Monday last week.
Then on Tuesday and Wednesday last week, a Grand Platinum Jubilee Concert involving the whole school took place and a special invitation to all grandparents was given for them to attend the Grandparents’ Royal Afternoon Tea that was held on the Wednesday afternoon.
Last Thursday, a street party was held at the school and children were asked to come to school dressed in red, white and blue.
The street party included fish and chips for lunch, and ice cream van and a royal version of the "It’s a Knockout" competition.
Last Friday was also a very exciting day for the children as the buried a time capsule with links back to 2022 and the jubilee celebrations for the BCPS family in the future.
Bury North MP James Daly was in attendance to help out with the burial and for the final day of celebrations.
Discusiing the celebrations on the school website, head teacher Helen Farrow said: “My main aim when planning our Platinum Jubilee celebration week was to give the children a week they would remember for the rest of their lives.
“I dearly hope that to be the case.
"The Jubilee is indeed a historic landmark in our country’s story, and we have certainly marked it well.”
