A huge book treasure hunt has been ongoing this week across Bolton.
Author Lenny Henry has taken over Greater Manchester for the Festival of Libraries - and Bolton libraries are thrilled.
From Monday, May 16, each day Bolton Library has been hiding books across the town and will continue to hide books until today.
Bolton Library and Museum Services are calling all explorers to join a hunt to 'Look for a Book'.
They are inviting residents to search high and low for Lenny Henry's new book 'The Boy With Wings' in Bolton, for a chance to meet Lenny in June and hear all about the book.
'Look for a Book' is part of the Manchester City of Literature's Festival of Libraries 2022.
Everyone who finds a book or takes part will be encouraged to come into their local library and receive a certificate and lucky winners who find the books will be entered into a prize draw.
Sir Lenny Henry, author of The Boy With Wings, said: “Copies of my book, The Boy With Wings, have been hidden across the whole of Greater Manchester as part of the Manchester Festival of Libraries – how exciting!
“The story’s an adventure about an ordinary kid who becomes an extraordinary hero, and you can be a hero too!
"Your mission is to find the clues at your local library, then keep your eyes peeled and your ears open, and you could find your very own book to keep and enjoy, but if not you’ll have lots of adventures along the way.
“Not only that, some lucky winners will be coming to see me at a special event, fingers crossed it could be you!
"I can’t wait to come to Manchester – you’ve got some pretty amazing libraries!”
Cllr Hilary Fairclough, deputy leader of Bolton Council, said the hunt was a great way for children to access books in an exciting way.
She said: "This is a really exciting innovation from our library service, children absolutely love the idea of hunting down the books, it brings the books to life, and gives children the chance to get out and about making it a real family experience.
"I am amazed how many different exciting projects our service provides and I cannot praise them enough for all the work they do to get all our children involved."
