RAMSBOTTOM Soroptimists celebrated their 70th Birthday this week, presenting their Young Achiever Award 2021 to a Bury student.
The celebration took place at the Red Hall Hotel where St Gabriel’s RC High school student, Jess Connolly, received the Young Achiever Award 2021.
President-Elect of Ramsbottom Soroptimists, Ann Bennett, said: “Jess is a very gifted netball player as well as an outstanding student academically at St Gabriel’s RC High school.
“Jess did say she wanted to dedicate her award to Dr Mark Hargreaves, assistant head at her high school, St Gabriel’s, who very tragically died suddenly a few weeks ago after collapsing at school which to me summed up what a wonderful young lady she is.”
The Soroptimists aim to transform the lives and status of women and girls through education, empowerment and enabling opportunities, and came together for their 70th birthday to do just that.
Ann added: “Besides enjoying a lovely meal together with other Soroptimist club members from across the region including the International President, Ramsbottom Rotary President and our friends and families we presented our Young Achiever Award 2021 to our winner Jess Connolly.”
The 70th birthday celebration evening ended with music from the folk group couple, couple Louise and Chris Rogan.
