The RSPCA Bury, Oldham and District has launched a free will writing service.
The charity that formed in 1987 relies on donations, fundraising and legacies to enable it to provide care to the hundreds of animals that pass through its doors each year, often due to abuse, neglect or abandonment.
Legacies to charities often provide a sizable income and allow charities to plan ahead.
Chief executive officer, Vincent Sherard-Bornshin, said: “For many years, legacies have played a vital source of income for the centre, and many charities offer a similar service, but we have not been able to offer a free will writing in the past as the cost of providing the service precluded us from offering it until now.
“Working in partnership with Kwil means that there is no cost to us or the person writing the will and hope that this encourages people to consider leaving a long-lasting legacy today, for tomorrow.
“This small independent charity does not receive daily funding from the larger RSPCA or money from donations made to it and relies on direct donations to the charity in Oldham.”
He added: “We did not wish to exclude anyone from our valued community from taking advantage of the service by only using an online provider and we are very happy to launch a freephone telephone number alongside a website link so that all members of the community can take advantage of the free service regardless of if they are online or not.
“We all know the importance of writing a will and hope that this free service, makes the process simple, with most wills taking less than 30 minutes to complete.”
There is no cost to use the service for a standard will and there is no obligation to leave a legacy to the charity, but it’s hoped that people taking advantage of the free service would consider a residuary, pecuniary, or specific gift to the charity to help secure its ongoing future.
To take advantage of the service offered by the charity via telephone, call free on 0800 061 4934 quoting reference RSPCABO or visit the charities website and follow the will writing link www.rspca-buryoldham.org.uk.
