SHOPPERS visiting Bury today spoke of their shock at the fatal stabbing of a teenager, as part of the town centre remained cordoned off.
There was a noticeable high police presence in the town centre.
A murder investigation is currently underway after the death of a 19-year-old who was stabbed just before 4pm yesterday.
Today a cordon remained in place at the junction of The Rock and Crompton Street.
There were a number of police vans in the area along with officers patrolling the town centre.
Police understand there may have been a disturbance around the Millgate Shopping Centre before the victim ran into Skybar on Market Street, where he was treated by First Aid trained staff.

Following the death, police said they would make use of their stop and search powers.
The attack came just hours after police launched an appeal after four street knife point robberies over Wednesday and Thursday.
Though police have given no indication the robberies are linked with this incident.
Shoppers and businesses were in disbelief about what had happened in broad daylight.
One shopworker said: “It is just awful, this is Bury and it is so sad that the man has died.”
One shopper said: “It is absolutely shocking, and so sad.
“I was shocked there had been people robbed at knifepoint in Bury and now this. You just would not expect this in a small town. My heart goes out to the man’s family.”
Another visitor to the town centre said: “It is heart breaking to hear what has happened and frightening to know that this has happened in Bury and the robberies. I live in Bury and it is just awful what's happened.
“It is good to see more police, it is reassuring. Bury is a popular shopping centre and it worrying that this happening.”
Three teenagers were arrested overnight on susipicion of murder.
Detective Superintendent Lewis Hughes said:"This has been a fast-paced investigation and I am pleased to say detectives have made three arrests overnight in connection with the death.
"Although they remain in custody for questioning our investigation is still in its initial stages and we are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time to come forward and assist police.
"This incident occurred in broad daylight in a Bury town centre so it is highly likely there are members of the public who witnessed the assault or may have mobile phone footage from around the town.
“ "If you were in Bury town centre and saw any disturbance in or around Millgate Shopping Centre then we ask that you contact Greater Manchester Police.
"You can also pass information anonymously via Crimestoppers.
“"It is without doubt that this news will have an impact on the community. I would like to offer some reassurance that detectives are leaving no stone unturned and there will be an increased uniform presence in Bury town centre and where appropriate powers of stop search will be utilised."
