A BURY dance instructor has held an event to raise awareness of epilepsy in memory of her friend's daughter.
Samantha Ahearn, a Bury College student tragically died from an epileptic seizure on her graduation day.
Allison Bennett, who tutored Samantha at Dance One Studios and has maintained a friendship with her mum, Lynn, hosted a special day to raise money for charity Sudden Expected Death in Epilepsy Action.
For every one of her birthdays for the last seven years, Allison has held an event for a different charity, and this one will be no different.
Offering something different from the usual dance classes, she hosted a range of activities for her students, who wore purple T shirts for SUDEP Actions and left cash in various donation buckets throughout the school.
Allison has even set up a JustGiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/alison-bennett-crowther3 which is still taking donations.
She said: "It can be hard to bring attention to things these days without some celebrity support but we're doing our best because this is an amazing cause.
"We're going to do everything we can to help sufferers of this disease and their families who go through things I wouldn't wish on anyone."
