A SPORTY seven-year-old is set to cycle 40 miles in memory of his grandparents.
Ralph Callan’s grandparents, Susan and Michael died before he was born. But he is determined to thank Bury Hospice for caring for them in their final months.
On March 19, Ralph and his dad, Dave, will cycle the 40 miles from their Unsworth home to Bacup, in time see Bury AFC play Bacup Borough.
Ralph, from Unsworth, said: “I’m excited for the ride and thankful for all the support from the hospice. I hope Adam and the Bury AFC players can win on the day to make it extra special.”
Ralph also plays football for Prestwich Predators and Walshaw Wolves, and some of his teammates may also turn out in support on March 19.
Dave added: “The work the hoice does is incredible and our family have benefitted first hand from this. Sadly Ralph never got to meet his grandparents but he’s determined to complete this challenge in memory of them and to raise funds for this special place.”
Ralph and Dave have trained very hard in the run-up to the cycle feat and even rode 18 miles last weekend to prepare.
