A car was 'completely destroyed' in a fire in a residential street late last night.

Fire fighters from Bury Fire Station were called to Falcon Close, Bury, around midnight last night (August 22) to a car well alight.

The fire service attended the incident for around an hour while police investigated the cause of the fire.

Bury Fire Station watch manager Stephen Wilcock said: "When we attended the car was very much burning away. The car was completely burned out.

"The owner of the vehicle was being very abusive to the fire service and the police were called to investigate the issue.

"The car was completely destroyed.

"It is believed there may be suspicious circumstances to the fire and investigations are ongoing."

Greater Manchester Police confirmed they attended the incident just after midnight with the fire service and that it is a suspected arson.

Enquiries are ongoing.
