A YOUNG woman with a life-threatening illness took part in a Tough Mudder challenge this to raise money for a Bury charity.

Annabelle's Challenge was established eight years ago by Jared Griffin when his daughter Annabelle was diagnosed with Vascular Elhers-Danlos Syndrome (vEDS). The condition causes sufferers to bruise and bleed easily and the charity has pioneered awareness of vEDS.

Megan Sheila, 20, from Birmingham, was diagnosed with vEDS in December and decided to put herself through a Tough Mudder course to support the charity.

She said: "Annabelle’s Challenging have been utterly amazing and I cannot thank them enough for what they have done and the help they’ve given me. They have been so supportive and kind to me, they are a great source of information and the advice they give is absolutely brilliant."

Megan took part in a gruelling event in the Midlands and has raised £335 so far.

She added: "I decided I did not want to be put in a box because of my illness and wanted to show people that anything is possible if you just push yourself."

Her Go Fund Me page is entitled Megans Tough Mudder Challenge online.
