A FAMILY funday has raised over £2,500 to fund the installation of a life-saving defibrillator at a cricket club.
Brooksbottom Cricket Club in Summerseat hosted the event which featured stalls, a bouncy castle and a 'hiitstepathon' by members of Training with Katie fitness classes.
"The idea to raise funds came after the incident involving Christian Eriksen during the Euros when we all realised that this could happen to anyone of us at anytime," said organiser Nikki Laura. "Not only does Brooksbottom Cricket Club facilitate the cricket for all ages but it is also where we train for our fitness classes with Katie so having a defibrillator installed would literally give a lifeline to many people.
"We raised £2,600 altogether through a mixture of online donations and from the stalls on the day.
"It was enough for the defibrillator to be installed and the remainder of the money raised is going on training for members the cricket club on how to use it."
