A SERIES of cooking demonstrations will take place at Bury Market aimed at encouraging Bury Adult Learning Service’s new course guide.
The demonstrations, which will take place between 11am-1pm on Friday, August 6, at the Othello Pitches (just outside of the Fish and Meat Hall, will also promote the fresh produce available at the market.
Sue Scott, curriculum quality leader for Work and Wellbeing at Bury Adult Learning Service, said: "We have a number of cooking courses available at Bury Adult Learning Centre, including Improve Your Mood through Food and Bake Yourself Happy that are part of our Wellbeing programme, What’s Cooking, which is part of our Family Learning programme and Food Preparation and Cookery Skills and Introduction to a Healthier Lifestyle, which are part of our Foundation Learning programme.
"Sarah Turnock is our very creative cookery tutor and will be sharing her skills at the demo."
Sue said she hoped to highlight the produce which was available from the market and promote healthier eating.
She added: "Bury Adult Learning Service is keen to work with its partners from the Bury Food Partnership Group, including Bury Market, to address some of the actions in the Bury Food Strategy Action Plan, such as developing knowledge of healthy food, addressing food poverty and diet-related ill health.
"Bury Market has a huge range of stalls with excellent produce and we are keen to promote this in our cooking courses so our learners are able to make informed choices of where to shop for their ingredients when re-creating the dishes they have learned in class."
