CROQUET players will be raising money for life saving research by the British Heart Foundation during an awareness week.
Bury Croquet Club is urging as many people as possible to attend their Celebration of Croquet BHF National Croquet Week at Whitehead Park, on Saturday, from 11am to 4pm.
Croquet games for adults and children will be available as well as tombola, raffles, bric-a-brac, croquet demonstrations and taster sessions.
The Croquet Association has chosen the nation’s heart charity to help celebrate the BHF’s 60th anniversary.
Fundraising Manager Vicki Carswell, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to The Croquet Association for their amazing support.
“The money raised helps fund ground-breaking discoveries and identify new treatments that could help save more people from the devastating effects of heart disease.”
Bury Croquet Club has held several previous fundraisers, with the money raised from this event going towards BHF’s research to help prevent and treat heart and circulatory disease.
Spokesman David Barrett added: "It’s a very important day for the club as we rejoice in our freedom and the fact that we can all meet up again. The joyous thing is that are celebrating croquet in partnership with the BHF.
“We want to get as many people to come along as possible, who we hope will learn how to play, enjoy themselves and come back for more.
“Membership are delighted to have members of the public come and have a look because we are very proud of our pavilion and the lawns. Our members have put in a tremendous amount of time and effort, working seven days a week making sure we are prepared and we hope it will be a day of smiles.”
The club is also offering free sessions later to anyone wanting to learn how to play at Whitehead Park and Coronation Park.
