BOLTON Mountain Rescue has come to the aid of a woman after she suffered a fall close to Hawkshaw.
The 63-year-woman was walking on a hillside north of the village at around 2.30pm on Monday (March 15) when she fell and injured her ankle.
The rescue team, which is based at Bolton Central Fire Station, rushed to the area where the woman was able to receive treatment before being taken to the nearby Holcombe Moor Training Camp.
A spokesperson for Bolton Mountain Rescue said: "At 14:47 today (Monday, March 15) the team were requested to attend an incident on a hillside north of Hawkshaw.
"A 63-year-old female had fallen and sustained a painful ankle injury and was unable to move. Two Landrover ambulances were deployed to the incident while other members attended directly in their own vehicles, with a total of 12 team members responding.
"Once a splint had been applied to the casualty, she was placed on a mountain rescue stretcher and carried approximately 1km to the nearby Holcombe Moor Army Training Camp from where she was transported to hospital for treatment.
"We would like to acknowledge the assistance provided by staff from the Training Camp regarding access, help from a number of soldiers on exercise, and from friends and family of the injured person. "We wish her a rapid and full recovery."
